Spoleto

This city preserves various historical and artistic heritage because of the different historical periods that characterized it.
It is not easy to say which are the most beautiful monuments to see in Spoleto, one could start from the Rocca Albornoziana which dominates Spoleto. It is the symbol of the town and is bounded by high walls alternated by six square towers.

The Ponte delle Torri bridge connecting the Rocca to the Monteluco hills is unique; it is 230 meters long and 82 meters high and it was built on a Roman structure and completed in the 12th century after the sack of Spoleto by Frederick I.

The Roman Theatre, the Arch of Drusus, the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta are a rare example of Romanesque architecture and at the same time are places of uncommon beauty. The frescoes by Pinturicchio and Filippo Lippi in the Church of Santa Maria Assunta are as much interesting to be visited.

Spoleto is famous for the “Festival dei Due Mondi”, annual international music, art and theatre festival usually held from the end of June to mid-July.
